Ipshita Prakash - Researcher
Dr. Ipshita Prakash is a general surgery resident at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), currently on-leave to pursue a Master’s of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London School of Economics. Her medical doctorate was obtained at McGill University, having been accepted as part of their competitive pre-med program.
Having spent her formative years in India, Algeria, Singapore and the United Kingdom prior to studying in Canada, her interests lie predominantly in Global Surgery, Health Economics and Global Health Policy. As part of her dissertation for her Masters she is currently performing a cost-of-illness (COI) study of road traffic injuries in Mozambique, laying the foundation for future economic evaluations and policy interventions regarding road traffic safety. Her recent work addressing the economic burden of injury is to be published in the Africa Trade Magazine. She has also contributed a chapter on lung injury in the Encyclopedia of Trauma, which is set to be published later this year.
