REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
The Centre for Global Surgery (CGS) at the McGill University Health Centre, in collaboration with the Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS) and the Canadian Association for General Surgeons (CAGS), is honoured to host the Bethune Round Table on 27-30 May 2021 in an online format.
The theme for the 2021 conference is:
Strengthening Health Infrastructures in Under-Resourced Communities
The Bethune Roundtable (BRT) is an interdisciplinary meeting hosted at a Canadian academic centre to discuss challenges and solutions to improving surgical care to underserved communities. The objective of BRT is to bring together health professionals from across disciplines to share their experiences in delivering safe surgery, anesthesia and obstetric care in low-resource settings.
At the end of this conference, participants will be able to:
· Recognize important parallels between indigenous and under-resourced communities in relation to health equity in the Canadian and the global context;
· Discuss and describe the gaps in surgical care;
· Develop and promote partnerships to implement high impact interventions (in the form of training/education, research and system improvements) to address such gaps;
· Recognize that achieving health equity in Canada and elsewhere is beyond just medical and surgical professionals, and that engaging community leaders, policy makers and all non-medical sectors that have significant impact on human well-being is a must.
Session-specific learning objectives can be consulted on the platform during the event.
VIRTUAL CONFERENCE
An outstanding program has been put together for this year. All the sessions will be pre-recorded by our speakers and will be on a time release throughout the conference, for “on-demand” viewing; in addition to the pre-recorded presentations, all panelists will be live in person, for an interactive session (Q&A/debate/break-out sessions) with participants, immediately following the release of their talk.
Your registration will enable you to select and choose what you wish to watch, when you want to watch it and it will enable you to view all of the invited speaker and oral abstract talks being offered. Registering also provides you with access to the conference platform for 6 months, which will give you ample time to watch the entire program content that is offered.
This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by Canadian Association of General Surgeons. You may claim a maximum of 12 hours.
